About me:
My name is Pamela Rodriguez and I am a 1st grade teacher at Edison Elementary School. I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Before obtaining my Bachelors degree from FGCU, I received an Associates Degree from Edison State College.
I am a big believer in that if you love what you do you will not have to work a day of your life. This is the main reason why I became a teacher. Ever since I was a little girl I knew what I wanted to do with my life, as I grew older I realized that not only did I love children, I also love education. The children of today are most certainly tomorrows future and I take pride in teaching my students, knowing that the knowledge they learn in my classroom today, will lead them into a brighter future. It is safe to say that I am as in love with my career today, as I was before I even started teaching.
I believe that every child is unique. Therefore every child has distinct strengths and weaknesses. I try to ensure that all of my lessons are a good fit for all students, by using activities that will suit different learning styles. In choosing lesson plans I keep in mind Dr. Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences. I have also based a lot of my teaching techniques on the Constructivism Theory of education. This theory emphasizes that learning is a building process, and that people learn best by building on to previous knowledge. In my classroom I acknowledge the importance of student interaction, and base much of my teaching in hands on tasks and projects.
